Donald Cedric  McFadyen
Donald (Don) Cedric McFadyen died peacefully, surrounded by family, in his home on October 18th in Byron, Georgia at the age of 58. Don is survived by his wife, Gayle McFadyen; children, Rachel Jones; Donald Jared (DJ) McFadyen; Sara McFadyen; his parents, Don and Karen McFadyen of Fernandina Beach, Florida; siblings Marya McFadyen Callahan and Charlotte McFadyen Kampovsky, both of Canton, Georgia. He is also survived by two grandchildren and five nieces and nephews. Don was born on August 28,1959 in Bowling Green, Ohio. He graduated from P.K. Yonge High School, Gainesville, Florida in 1977. He attended the University of Central Arkansas and graduated from Florida Atlantic University with a degree in Business. Don married the love of his life, Gayle Barnes in 1992. After business in the furniture industry in South Florida, Don moved to Georgia, where he established his career in management with Publix. In addition to his career with Publix, Don and his wife owned small businesses in Perry and Flowery Branch, GA. Don and Gayle, along with their three children settled in middle Georgia. Don’s wife and children will forever remember him as a father who always put his family first and fought for what was right. He gave his family the anchor to fight against any current. Don was accomplished at managing people and often changed lives--teaching by example. His heart and home were open to everyone. Friendships were easy, abundant and paramount to Don. A selfless and welcoming man who always took people in, he was the epitome of southern hospitality and genuine love without judgement. Don was passionate about his family, hard work, honesty, clarity and intellectual debate. His integrity was apparent to everyone who met him. He was a true patriot who loved the liberty and the individual freedoms of his country. Don appreciated the philosophies of Ayn Rand, he loved the outdoors, Harley-Davidsons, the beach and good food. The world lost a beautiful man, but his legacy and teachings live on in everyone who knew and loved him. th A celebration of life is scheduled for 3:00 pm on October 28 , 2017 at Burpee-Scott Memorial Chapel, 2932 Hwy. 41 N, Ft. Valley, GA 31030, with a reception to follow. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Don’s life.
