Obituary for Charles Thomas "Tommy" Kersey Jr.

Charles Thomas "Tommy"  Kersey Jr.
Elko- Charles “Tommy” Kersey, Jr. passed away on Friday, September 15, 2017 at his residence surrounded by his beloved family. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held on Sunday, September 17, 2017 at 2:00 pm in Unadilla United Methodist Church with Reverend James Aycock officiating. The family has requested in lieu of flowers, please make donations to Homestead Hospice, 500 Osigian Blvd, Warner Robins, GA 31088.
Tommy was born on November 24, 1939 in Henderson, GA to the late Charlie, Sr. and Clifford Sullivan Kersey. He was a 1957 graduate of Perry High School. He was very active in many groups during his life but most notably he was the former President of the Unadilla Jaycees, he was a part of the American agriculture movement, where he led the tractorcade to Washington, DC back in the 1970’s. Tommy worked most of his life as a farmer and truly loved every aspect of farming. In addition to his parents, Tommy was preceded in death by his 2 sisters, Vivian Blackstock & Betty Hammock.
Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife of 56 years, Joan Beddingfield Kersey; 2 sons: Jeff & Scotty Kersey, both of Elko; 2 grandchildren: Charlie Kersey & Leah Pifer (Ben); 1 great-grandchild: Cheyenne Kersey; 2 brothers: Leighton Kersey (Pam) & Wendell Kersey (Judy) and several nieces and nephews.
