Obituary for Herbert Eugene Anderson Sr.

Fort Valley- Herbert Eugene Anderson, Sr. passed away on Thursday, August 10, 2017 at Houston Medical Center with his loving family by his side. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday, August 12, 2017 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Burpee-Scott Memorial Chapel & Crematory, 2932 Hwy. 41 N, Fort Valley, GA 31030.
Herbert was born on July 12, 1942 in Dubois, PA to the late Norman and Virginia Busch Anderson. He faithfully served his country in the United States Air Force while serving abroad and at Robins Air Force Base. Herbert was a 1971 graduate of Mercer University with an Economics degree. He was a very successful entrepreneur having owned and operated several businesses; which included Middle Georgia Putt Away Golf in Warner Robins, Macon Putt Putt, Lums and The Derby restaurants in Macon. His passion of horses led him to opening Oakridge Stables in Fort Valley. His most successful venture was Anderson Commercial Art in Byron which made use of his artistic talent. In addition to his many business ventures, Herbert was a very skilled artist, country line dance instructor and an avid golfer.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Marsha Skinner Anderson, Fort Valley; children: Herbert Eugene Anderson, Jr., Fort Valley, Julie Lynne Kromsky (Mitchell), Owings Mills, MD, Tonya Jean Locke (Tony), Fort Valley and their mother: Nancy Doane Anderson; 10 grandchildren: Trey, Ginger, Matthew, Ryan, Joshua, Jaryd, Melynda, Mason, Zoee & Austin; 1 great-grandchild: Raylin; 3 brothers: Norman, Richard & Robin Anderson; sister: Marcia Jackson and several nieces and nephews.
